Learn how top band photographer George Fairbairn approaches shooting a band in the studio, working quickly to get images that suit the band and their music.

We join George in the Academy studio for the insight into his shooting process and how he approaches shooting portraits of bands and musicians. For this shoot, local band Florence Black came down to the studio for some promotional portraits. After a quick chat, it was straight into the studio with George shooting some great, punchy portraits with gels on the edge lights to bring depth and interest to the plain studio. George then takes advantage of the Academy studios fantastic stained glass windows. This highlights one of Georges key skill points for Band photography, which is making the most of the environment your given, as often he has limited time to prepare so needs to extract the best in a limited time.
