Mark introduces you to the concepts behind getting started with the basics of using flash on location. Guiding you step-by-step through the process of mixing ambient light with flash to take your location portraits to the next level.

Using Elinchrom’s fantastic ELB portable flash system Mark explains the process behind introducing flash into an image whilst shooting on location. Mark begins by showing you how to meter to find out the ambient light levels, and then how to introduce complimentary flash, which balances with the natural light to produce a beautiful, higher key image. Mark then explains how through control of the shutter and Aperture you can overpower the ambient light to producer darker, more dramatic images, depending on the look you want to achieve.

Equipment: Canon 5DMkIII, Canon 70-200mm, 1x Elinchrom ELB400, EL-Skyport Plus, Elinchrom Portalite Octa 56cm, Sekonic LiteMaster Pro L-478DR-EL
