Join Deborah in the old lace mill that is her studio, with its distressed walls and shabby chic styling, as she shoots this series of 18th Century Fashion themed images for a local Hair & Make-up college. In this next part of the series Deborah explains the second of the three different set-ups for the day, a fairy-tale like set with multiple large mirrors. As Deborah explains, whilst this is a great looking set, the mirrors can cause a multitude of problems meaning lighting and photographer have to be carefully positioned to create the best-looking image. Combined with the requests of the students this can mean some tricky lighting, which can limit the choice of modifiers when creating the shots.

Equipment: Canon 5DMkII, Canon 7D, 2x Canon 24-70mm, Canon 70-200mm, Canon 100mm Macro, Canon 15mm, Elinchrom Skyport, Sekonic L-358 Lightmeter, Elinchrom BRXi500, Elinchrom Softlite White Reflector 70cm 80° with Diffuser, Elinchrom Softlite White Reflector 44cm 55° with Diffuser, Elinchrom Rotalux 50x130cm, Elinchrom Quadra with Ranger A Heads, Calumet Stand Castors

Learn the essential kit fashion and beauty photographer Deborah Selwood packs in her bag when preparing for a fashion or make-up shoot. Deborah guides you through her kit bag explaining exactly what equipment she keeps in her bag when shooting fast paced fashion & beauty photography for a local college. These shoots are high volume, short sessions, covering an entire course of students in just a few days. So, having the right equipment to hand allows Deborah to be flexible and adjust quickly to the changing demands of each student. Due to the time constraint and long make-up application Deborah needs to be ready to keep shooting no matter what, so multiple cameras, cards and batteries are essential to ensure that the shoots keep going and everybody get their images. Equipment: Canon 5DMkII, Canon 7D, 2x Canon 24-70mm, Canon 70-200mm, Canon 100mm Macro, Canon 15mm, Elinchrom Skyport, Sekonic L-358 Lightmeter

Presenter:

In this webinar we are being joined by Deborah Selwood. One of the main areas Deborah works in is shooting portfolios for Artistry colleges. Deborah will be talking about her approach and how she creates her stunning portfolio images for her clients.

Deborah Selwood is a UK based internationally published professional hair, beauty, fashion, dance photographer and retoucher. She fell in love with photography at an early age but for a number of years pursued a different career path with photography being merely a hobby in her spare time. However, her love of photography grew so in 2002 she went to study several photography courses at her local college. Since then she has taken the opportunity to study photography and retouching on an almost daily basis in order to hone and improve her craft through a mixture of online tuition, face to face tuition, 1-2-1 tuition.

Over the years she has won many awards for her photography including International Photographer of the Year, UK Photographer of the Year, Fashion Photographer of the Year and Fine Art Photographer of the Year.

Deborah is so passionate about learning it made sense to undertake a teaching qualification so she can teach other photographers effectively and with confidence. Teaching and meeting new photographers is a true pleasure for her. She is a firm believer in lifelong learning and personal development and would encourage anyone to study their craft as much as possible.
