Learn how to breakdown and interpret mood boards with this quick guide from The Academy’s very own fashion photographer Deborah Selwood.

Deborah guides you through her process for breaking down a mood book or board that a client may provide when working in the fashion and commercial photography industry. Mood boards are a great tool for the client to help communicate their vision to you, looking at colour and tones, hair and make-up, posing and every element that goes into producing fantastic images. Clients will vary with some producing extensive books whilst other will use Pinterest and some will avoid them completely, which is why as the photographer it is essential you learn how to interpret the information from the client to achieve the desired images.
